Citi Bike for Business
Hundreds of employers across NYC subsidize bikeshare as a benefit for their employees. There are a lot of good reasons to do it. Bikeshare is a great health and wellness perk. It can motivate team members to come into the office. And it shows an organizational commitment to sustainability.
Lyft offers two options through the Citi Bike for Business program: employers can either cover the cost of an annual membership or offer ride credit with Lyft Pass. Here’s how the two options compare.

Subsidize Annual Membership
Available to organizations of 25 employees or more. Employees will need to use a verified email to redeem. Billed monthly, based on when an employee redeemed (so, upfront billing).
Ideal for organizations who want to offer Citi Bike annual memberships, providing employees unlimited trips on classic bikes.
Here’s what you (employer) get:
- 20% Discount off the retail rate of $219.99/membership
- Annual report available of total trips taken by employees
- Additional ride fees are the responsibility of the rider (could be covered with Lyft Pass credits if set up)
Once an employee redeems membership following these steps, here’s what they get:
- Unlimited 45 min rides on pedal bikes
- Free unlocks on ebikes with discounted rates
- ...and more!
Pay Per Ride with Lyft Pass
Available for organizations of all sizes. Admin has full control over employee eligibility. If an employee has a personal or subsidized membership, their member rides can still be covered by credits with Lyft Pass.
Ideal for organizations that want the most flexibility and control in providing credits to their people, whether they are in multiple markets and/or include ebike rides.
Here is how it works:
- Invite eligible employees by email, text, or print and distribute unique codes
- Pay per ride taken by employees (and only pay for the rides they actually take)
- Customize the credit amount you want to offer your employees, based on your goals and budget
- Set up recurring rewards (“Here’s $50 toward your Citi Bike rides this month!”) or a one-time credit for a special event ( “Here’s $10 for bike rides on Earth Day”)
- Access Lyft Pass using one platform that links all Lyft bike and scooter markets across the country
- Download reports rides and budget whenever you need them, 24/7
