Citi Bike

New Citi Bike prices begin in January

Supporting a larger, more reliable network.

In recent years, we have tripled the Citi Bike service area and fleet size, making it one of the largest bikeshare programs in the world, all without any taxpayer dollars. To ensure the Citi Bike system remains reliable, widely available, and ready for you whenever you need it, we are updating our 2026 prices. This adjustment is necessary to manage increased operational expenses, including the impact of rising tariffs.

Building a better network for you

We’re focusing on three key areas so you can enjoy a better experience for years to come:

  • Continuing expansion: We are expanding our network with 250 new stations across the Bronx, Queens, and Brooklyn, bringing Citi Bike closer to more communities.
  • Equipment upgrades: We’re proactively upgrading classic bikes, ebikes and station equipment to ensure you have the best possible ride. Plus, we’re investing in new charging stations across the service area.
  • Operational excellence: In 2025, unexpected tariffs imposed substantial ongoing costs on Citi Bike’s operations. We absorbed the costs this year to continue to deliver the quality of service you expect, but we’re unable to shoulder them long term. We’re also making this adjustment due to rising costs in other areas such as insurance, service vehicles, and field staffing.
