A smooth ride for New Jersey members

Our riders move through full days, fast schedules, and plenty of last-minute turns. To support that pace, we’re introducing two new member-only features in New Jersey designed to reduce downtime and keep your ride steady from the get-go.

We’re also expanding the system with nearly 400 new docks across Jersey City and Hoboken, giving members more stations, more access, and more capacity where you need it most.

Reserve before you arrive
Busy mornings happen. With Reservations, you can secure your ebike ahead of time so your ride is ready when you are.

How it works:

Reserve in advance: In the Lyft or Citi Bike app, members can secure any available ebike at any station in New Jersey for up to 10 minutes.
Location flexibility: You can reserve an ebike as long as the station is in Jersey City or Hoboken—your current location does not matter.
Scan any ebike: To simplify your pickup, the system is configured to allow scanning any available ebike at the reserved station, not just the specific one you reserved.
Pricing: Reservation per-minute pricing will always match member ebike pricing.

Pause when you need to
Quick stops shouldn’t push your whole day off-kilter. Pause gives you a way to hold your ebike without ending your session.

How it works:

Quick stops made easier: Simply pause your ebike through the Lyft or Citi Bike app. The bike remains locked, but your ride session is maintained, so you don't need to find an empty dock and start a whole new trip.
Where to pause: A ride can be paused only if the ebike is currently located in Jersey City or Hoboken.
Time limit: Paused rides will automatically end after 55 minutes.
Pricing: Pause per-minute pricing will always match member ebike pricing.

You can step away, handle what you need to do, and get back on your route without interruption.

Expanding New Jersey’s Citi Bike system
Even more big news for our New Jersey Citi Bike riders: nearly 400 new docks are on the way, a 30% boost to the system. This expansion features our Lyft Pillar dock, designed for reliability, modularity, and sustainability.
More dock availability means fewer bottlenecks, smoother returns, and a more reliable experience throughout the system.
